Once Upon a Time there was an Artist Named Garry Sanipass…

This is from my first solo art show. During the production of the show I wanted to create a painting that showed me taking off my face. So, in order to do that I made a plaster cast of my face because I wanted to get the shadows just right. That plaster cast, in my imagination, took a life of it’s own. I imagined it as a part of myself. a deeper part of myself. Do you see a hand that appears as if it’s drawing a circle. I wanted to create this entity to appear as if he lives on the other side of this page. On the other side of my reality and he is trying to communicate to me. He is drawing a circle because a circle is the most widely used symbol that all humans have been using since time immemorial. Since then, this character has been a major element in my art.
