Planning an art show

I have this idea for an art show. It’s not a simple show, it’s very complex. So the art gallery that I am going to be presenting this show at, needs an application from me. On this application they are asking for a website. I suck at maintaining websites. I’ve been trying to delete this one but I just don’t know how. I don’t know how to start a new one. With multiple pages that show the different media of art that I have. So I’m using this one. The first Art show I did I called “Masks”. I had realized that we have this persona. This body and maybe perhaps we are more than out bodies. So in order to paint a self portrait I made a plaster mask of myself.

Title: De-conditioning H+, Egg tempera on Masonite. 26” x 43”

I delved into an existence beyond an identity, beyond this human body. I painted the transition in a series of paintings in egg tempera for my first Solo show at “La Galerie D’Art Marie Helene. That same show is online with Created Here Magazine and you can see the show here: https://www.createdhere.ca/stories/2020/4/8/garry-sanipass-masks-virtual-exhibition

The discarded persona, the plaster mask I created. I started to experiment wth it. I sketched it came up with a few design ideas. Here are some of my ideas.

While building this site, I wanted to have drawings of my first experimentation of this discarded mask. The origins of that idea for this new show. To my astonishment, I noticed that these ideas aren’t new at all. This new show, or this show I thought was new is the same thing I’ve been working on since 2019, but I digress. I was approached by FAVA, Montreal to create an art film. The director Julien Lanteigne saw my mask and asked if I could create a film with the character or creature of the mask involved. Which is what we did. I am including the film here.

I continued painting different subjects.

Then I was asked to take part in a performance art show called “conversations” by Linda Rae Dornan. The description can be found here. https://www.strutsgallery.ca/copy-of-struts-tv I am also going to include a close up of the mask that’s in the corner of the performance.
