cat interrupted me, they needed food so i’m back.

In this meta-postmodern era, my art explores the intersection of colonial legacies, consumerism, and technology, revealing hidden layers that only emerge upon deeper inspection. By drawing inspiration from pioneers like Carl Beam, I critique how technology and advertising have shaped our consumption-driven society, often at the cost of our environment and well-being. Through this lens, the artwork becomes a reflection on how the past and present intertwine, inviting viewers to reconsider the impact of consumer culture on our world.
The Problem with writing it that way is that it’s highly abstract. What does that mean? ok…look…i’m creating this video on youtube. Youtube exists to make money. They want people to stay online longer to sell more ad space. In that painting above I have a black and white portrait of Edward Bernays. The father of modern day advertising and he helped bring about today’s consumer culture through addictions. Youtube and coffee is highly addictive. what am I doing in this video? Creating content and grinding coffee. A self referential activity. I’m fully aware i’m partcipating in
Now that I’ve explained the painting and I’m doing this very weird meta-behind the scenes look at the website being constructed as I construct it. It reminds me of this moment in spaceballs. Remember that scene where they rented a copy of the movie spaceballs in the movie spaceballs. They fast forward to the moment right now…what’s happening. It’s right now. we are in the moment of the movie when it happened right now. something like that. Ok..so what do I do? I had this idea where I wanted to record people reacting to the hidden layers of the painting. You are getting the behind the behind the behind scenes of that. As it’s happening in real time. Pretty cool eh?….ok..so that’s the meta-ness about the whole thing. But this isn’t helping me create the content I need. I’m so stuck in the now about this whole idea. I meditate too much.
