Performance art FISPa

I was lucky enough to be invited to do an art performance piece to the FISPA Internationale. FISPA – International Slam/Poetry Festival in Acadia. There were slam poets from all over the world and it was a world I wasn’t aware of. I truly loved it. However, I should discuss my performance.

During the entire performance a recording of a human heart beat was played. I dressed as a judge where I read off a bunch of words I think are disgusting. Words like “colonialism”, “consumerism”, “greed”, “clear cut”, “mysoginy” and many more. I rip up the paper those words are written on and then put those words in the mound of soil by my feet.

I then take the judge robe off and make a circle from the stones that I placed next to the mound of soil. I lay down in the center of the circle where the people observing the art performance bury me in the disgusting words and soil. I later emerge from the soil.

The observer’s/participants of the art piece told me after that it was a very powerful experience. Very emotional, which I was surprised about.
